Your path to 9+1 starts here. Beginning with the 2027 program, entry into the member-only 9+1 program will be determined through a free-to-enter drawing for NYRR members.
- To be eligible to enter the drawing you must:
- be a member by 11:59 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16 and on Thursday, October 1.
- be 18 as of November 5, 2028
- The application is open from Thursday, September 17 through Tuesday, September 29.
- The drawing will take place on Thursday, October 1.
Members who are selected will become 9+1 Passholders and have a supported pathway to complete the 9+1 program requirements for guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2028 TCS New York City Marathon.
You must be an active NYRR member by September 16, 2026 and on October 1, 2026, to be eligible to enter the 9+1 Pass drawing.
NYRR members can enter the free-to-enter 9+1 Pass drawing* starting at 12:00 p.m. on September 17 through September 29 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
*Please note: You must be 18 as of November 5, 2028, to be eligible for the drawing.
Members selected in the drawing will be notified and charged the 9+1 Pass fee of $99.00 (includes processing fee).
NYRR offers Teak, a refund program that provides registration fee protection on all paid events. For the 9+1 pass, participants who purchase refund protection on the $99 pass fee will be able to submit a claim for a refund if they are unable to complete the program for a covered reason. Claims must be submitted before the end of the 9+1 program on December 31, 2027. If you have achieved 9+1 but are not able to claim your 2028 TCS New York City Marathon guaranteed entry, you will not be eligible to receive a refund. Registration fee protection purchased on the 9+1 Pass will only cover the $99 9+1 Pass fee. It will not cover any race fees for races run during the 2027 9+1 program. In response to NYRR member feedback and pilot programs over the past 24 months, New York Road Runners is introducing several changes designed to improve year-round race access while creating a clearer path to completing the 9+1 program. Changes are coming to membership as well.
