Celebrate the contributions of Black and African American runners through history, including NYRR’s founding president, Ted Corbitt, with the Virtual NYRR Black History Month Challenge.
Complete 28 total miles during the month of February in honor of Black figures who have been influential in your own community and around the world. You can run your virtual runs anywhere, anytime between February 1 and February 28.
As The Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce enters its 130th year, we proudly recognize the Chamber for its enduring impact in fostering trade and commerce and stimulating civic, cultural, health, educational, residential, small business, and tourism development throughout the Harlem community. Race results will be available on the NYRR Results site and in your NYRR dashboard by Thursday, March 5.

Runners can now upgrade from the Free Tier to the Premium Tier and earn a Virtual 6 credit through their user dashboard at any time between now and the end of the event. Here are the steps:
- Sign into your dashboard.
- Go to Your Events, and view the virtual race registration you wish to upgrade.
- Under Registration Options, select Switch Categories.
- Select the Premium Tier and pay the registration fee. You may not downgrade once you have registered for the Premium Tier, all entry fees are non-refundable.
Runners must complete the full 28-mile distance within the dates given for the Virtual NYRR Black History Month Challenge and upload the activity or activities to Strava. Please note: Your activity must be a GPS upload. Manual uploads, treadmill runs, and activities where friends have “tagged” you are not supported and will not be counted toward your result.
Runners who previously had or currently have a Strava subscription cannot redeem a 30-day trial. Runners cannot redeem a Strava subscription trial more than once on their account. Learn more on Strava's website.
While general entry is free, you can also purchase entry for this race to begin or to continue your journey to earning guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 RBC Brooklyn Half as part of the NYRR Virtual 6 program. A virtual race is a race that can be run at your convenience during a specified period of time. To participate in NYRR Virtual Racing Powered by Strava, create your free Strava account, sign up for a race, and run or walk the distance of the race on a course you select wherever you are.
