Celebrate the magic of the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon, the 50th anniversary of the five- borough course, from anywhere in the world between October 24 and November 1.
Virtual TCS New York City Marathon: Run the distance in a single activity in one day
Virtual TCS New York City Marathon Challenge: Run the distance over the course of marathon week or in a single day
- June 10: Guaranteed Entry Tier drawing application period opens
- June 17: Guaranteed Entry Tier drawing application period closes
- June 24: Guaranteed Entry Drawing Day
- June 24: Medal Tier, Love of Running & Team for Kids Guaranteed Entry open for registration at 3:00 p.m. ET (once the drawing is complete)
The 2026 Virtual TCS New York City Marathon offers four tiers for entry. Read on for information about each tier or select an option from the list below.
- Guaranteed Entry Tier: Registration for this tier will take place via a non-guaranteed entry drawing. The window to apply to the drawing will be from June 10 to June 17, and the drawing will take place on June 24. Selected applicants will be notified via email.
- NYRR Team for Kids Tier: This tier lets you add meaning to your miles by fundraising for NYRR’s youth and community program as you earn a guaranteed entry to the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon. Registration opens on June 24.
- Challenge Tiers: Join the Marathon Challenge when you sign up for the Finisher Medal or Love of Running tier and run 26.2 miles anytime during the week. You can choose to run a marathon in a single day or over the course of the week, it’s up to you as long as your miles equal 26.2! Registration opens on June 24
Race results and credits will be available on the NYRR Results site and in your NYRR dashboard by Wednesday, November 11.
Funds raised by Team for Kids runners support NYRR youth and community programs. This includes Rising New York Road Runners, NYRR’s youth program and events platform. Through school- based programs, youth events and a collection of digital resources, Rising New York Road Runners brings free running and fitness programs to students across the country.

Runners must complete the full 26.2-mile distance in a single run activity during one calendar day and upload the activity to Strava.

Runners must complete the full 26.2-mile distance in a single run activity during one calendar day and upload the activity to Strava.
Registration for the Guaranteed Entry tier is not open to runners registered for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon.
If you are selected in the drawing, your default credit card will immediately be charged the full registration fee. Your card must have an expiration date of July 2026 or later. If you are selected in the drawing and your credit card is declined, you will be notified via email and given until June 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET to update your default credit card in your NYRR dashboard. We will attempt to process and finalize your registration again on July 1.
Runners who are selected for the Virtual TCS New York City Marathon (Guaranteed Entry tier) and complete their virtual race will gain guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 TCS New York City Marathon. Finishers will also be shipped a Virtual TCS New York City Marathon finisher medal and keychain.

Join the Marathon Week Challenge when you sign up for the Finisher Medal and run 26.2 miles anytime during the week. You can choose to run a marathon in a single day or over the course of the week, it’s up to you as long as your miles equal 26.2!
Runners who register for the Virtual TCS New York City Marathon Challenge (Finisher Medal) and complete their virtual race will be shipped a Virtual TCS New York City Marathon finisher medal and keychain.
^ Finishers will receive their finisher package in the mail at the address provided in their NYRR profile. Packages will be shipped after the race time frame. Domestic and international runners will be contacted via email once their finisher package is shipped and provided with a tracking number.
- Entry: Love of Running is Free; Premium Tier: $21.15 with fees NYRR members, $31.72 with fees non-members
- Spots: Unlimited
- Register for the Premium Tier if you want to earn one credit toward the Virtual 6 program.
Join the Marathon Week Challenge when you sign up for the Love of Running tier and run 26.2 miles anytime during the week. You can choose to run a marathon in a single day or over the course of the week, it’s up to you as long as your miles equal 26.2!
Runners who register for the Virtual TCS New York City Marathon (Love of Running) pay no entry fee!
Join the NYRR Virtual Racing Facebook group and NYRR Strava Club for daily inspiration from the virtual racing community year-round. Get racing tips and support from both beginners and experienced runners from around the world.
Please note: Your activity must be a GPS upload. Manual uploads, treadmill runs, and activities where friends have “tagged” you are not supported and will not be counted toward your result.
As part of the registration cost, you can also select to begin or to continue your journey to earning guaranteed, non-complimentary entry to the 2027 RBC Brooklyn Half as part of the NYRR Virtual 6 program. Read more about the NYRR Virtual 6 program here.
