Bring the kids to the Rising NYRR at the NYRR Mindful 5K in Flushing Meadows Corona Park as we kick off Mental Health Awareness Month on Saturday, May 3.
The event is a celebration of running’s profound impact on mental well-being. Learn more about our free resources that can help support kids’ mental well-being here.
Registration for this event is FREE and open to participants ages 2 to 18 of all abilities. Every finisher will receive a New Balance water bottle. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.

Race numbers may be picked up at the NYRR RUNCENTER featuring the New Balance Run Hub at 320 West 57th Street (between Eighth and Ninth Avenues) on the following days:

Parents and guardians of runners are encouraged to pick up race numbers at the NYRR RUNCENTER to avoid race-day lines.
On race day, race number pickup will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 10 minutes before your child's start time at Race-Day Central, located in David Dinkins Circle in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. If you plan to pick up a runner's race number on race day, please arrive at least 60 minutes before the start of their run.
Souvenirs will only be distributed on race day.
While Rising New York Road Runners develops kids’ movement skills through running-based activities, it is just as important to teach kids how to calm their minds and bodies. The videos below guide kids through breathing exercises and light movement to help them return to a resting state or to take a moment to pause and reset.

Stage 1
Stage 1 participants should report to the staging area (starts separated by age group) 15 minutes before the start of their run. Please note that Stage 1 dashes start on a rolling schedule; refer to the estimated start times listed below.
Stages 2 and 3
Stage 2 and 3 participants should report to the corrals 15 minutes before the start of their run. Staff will walk participants to the start line.

Stage 1 participants will run short dashes of various distances. See the Schedule of Events section for the estimated distances each age group will run.
Stage 2 participants will run an out-and-back course that starts and finishes on Avenue of Commerce between Avenue of Progress and Avenue of Americas. Runners will begin by heading southeast on Avenue of Commerce, make a right turn onto Herbert Hoover Promenade, and continue until they reach the turnaround point. At the turnaround point, participants will follow the same course they went out on to reach the finish line on Avenue of Commerce.
Stage 3 participants will run an out-and-back course that starts and finishes on Avenue of Commerce between Avenue of Progress and Avenue of Americas. Runners will begin by heading southeast on Avenue of Commerce, make a right turn onto Herbert Hoover Promenade, and continue until they reach Avenue of Americas where they will make a right turn to reach the turnaround point. At the turnaround point, participants will follow the same course they went out on to reach the finish line on Avenue of Commerce.

Bag check will be available from 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at Race-Day Central, located in David Dinkins Circle in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.
Planning to check a bag on race morning? While we will continue to have clear plastic bags available at number pickup, we encourage you to use your own clear reusable plastic bag, no larger than 17" wide x 20" high x 7" deep, with the tag affixed.
NYRR is not responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen bags or items from bags checked at NYRR bag check.
Finishers will receive a New Balance water bottle. Please note that souvenirs are subject to availability.
Souvenirs will only be distributed on race day from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Race-Day Central, located in David Dinkins Circle in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. A youth race number must be presented to collect the event souvenir.
After the conclusion of the event, official results for Stage 3 will be posted on results.nyrr.org.
Awards will be given to the overall 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place girl, boy, and non-binary Rising NYRR at the NYRR Mindful 5K - Stage 3 finishers. Awards will only be distributed on event day at the race finish.
If NYRR cancels an offering on the direction of local, city, or state authorities, parents/guardians will be informed as soon as possible. Events will not be rescheduled.
